The Institute of Administrative Affairs (IAD) and the Internal Security Force (ISF) called Lakhwia, have signed an agreement on training programmes for the senior and middle-level of ISF.
The agreement was signed by the Director General of IAD Dr Rashid bin Ali al Dosari and the Director of the Training Department of Lakhwia Colonel Mahdi Motlaq al Qahtani.
A statement issued here said the agreement is part of a series of memoranda of understanding and agreements signed by IAD with a number of government parties and private institutions that have expressed interest in training their personnel to acquire the required skills and capabilities to perform their duties.
It said the deal demonstrates the confidence of the organisations in IAD’s capacity as a hub of expertise in the field of training and occupational knowhow.
According to the MoU, IAD will implement a range of programmes on administrative and organisational aspects for the officials of Lakhwia.
The programmes proposed for the senior leadership include training tracks focussing on the development of supervisory skills, communication, correspondence, human relations, creativity and ingenuity skills, as well as the development of training programmes.
The middle management programmes will include 10 training modules covering leadership skills development, negotiation, crisis management, problem analysis and decision making.
The programmes will also cover self management, how to lead others, time management, dealing with work pressure and performance evaluation of personnel, together with skills related to the organisation of meetings and the preparation of the annual budget.
Dr al Dosari stressed that the agreement with ISF Lakhwia represents a quantum leap in the provision of programmes to leaderships in government institutions, since they are focussed on leadership skills, and are targeted at senior leadership and middle management of the ISF.
He said that the IAD would award diplomas to a new batch of students from Mohamed Bin Ahmed Military College by the first quarter of 2010.
He said that in the past two years the focus had been on generic programmes aimed at government employees with the vision of disseminating the culture of training and filling the needs in terms of basic skills.
He said IAD would improve on performance and enhance the services provided to participants by ensuring nature of their jobs match the programmes as a prerequisite for acceptance.
He said the institute was developing appropriate mechanisms to streamline training in order to achieve optimum results.
